Caledonia State Park Campground Map (PDF)

Tent and trailer sites are available in two campgrounds.

The camping season opens the day before trout season and ends with the conclusion of deer season in December.

Both campgrounds have drinking water, showers, flush toilets, and sanitary dump stations.

Chinquapin Hill Campground

Chinquapin Hill Campground is nestled on the side of a mountain among plenty of shade trees and is close to the swimming pool. This campground has non-electric sites, electric sites, and 18 full-hookup sites.

The park amphitheater is in this camping area and is accessible to the public from the day use parking area.

Pets are prohibited in this campground.

This activity or structure is ADA accessible. ADA accessible campsites, restrooms, and showers are available for people with disabilities.

Hosack Run Campground

Hosack Run Campground is one mile from the main day use area.

This campground has moderately level, open, and shaded sites. This campground has non-electric sites, electric sites, and 17 full-hookup sites. This camping area also has a small playground for children.

All sites in this camping area are pet friendly.

This activity or structure is ADA accessible. ADA accessible campsite, restroom, and shower are available for people with disabilities.

Free Camping for Campground Hosts

Two host positions

Modern campground host site amenities include a full-hookup site.

A two-week minimum stay is required. Hosts are required to assist park personnel for 40 hours-per-week.

Lodging

Caledonia House #2

Located along US 30, Caledonia Lodge is a two-story frame house available for rent year round.

The lodge has:

  • Modern kitchen
  • Closed-in porch
  • One and one half baths
  • Dining room
  • Living room
  • Central heat
  • Three bedrooms that sleep ten people

Alcoholic beverages are permitted in this overnight facility and associated curtilage only. Alcohol possession and consumption is restricted to the holder of the reservation permit and invited guests age 21 and older. Responsible and legal alcohol consumption is required, and violations are grounds for removal from the state park without refund.

Note that alcohol possession and consumption in all other overnight facilities and all other areas of state parks is prohibited.

Organized Group Camping

Organized Group Tenting

Caledonia offers five separate 20-person sites for rent to organized adult and youth groups. This area opens the day before trout season in March and closes the fourth Sunday in October.

There are flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Advance reservations are required.

Caledonia makes a great base for groups touring the Gettysburg National Military Park.
