Gifford Pinchot State Park

The 2,338-acre Gifford Pinchot State Park is a full-service park located in northern York county along PA 177 between the towns of Rossville and Lewisberry. The park consists of reverting farm fields and wooded hillsides with the 340-acre Pinchot Lake serving as a prime attraction.

Recreational activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, disc golf, and camping.

Pine Grove Furnace State Park

The 696-acre Pine Grove Furnace State Park is steeped in natural and historical features. It is located at the northern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in an area known as South Mountain. Visitors enjoy many recreational opportunities, including the two mountain lakes (Laurel Lake and Fuller Lake), hiking the Appalachian Trail, biking the rail trail, and visiting the Appalachian Trail Museum.

Michaux State Forest

The 85,500-acre Michaux State Forest is located in the South Mountain area of Cumberland County, Franklin County, and Adams County. Recreation opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ATV riding, picnicking, fishing, hunting, the shooting range, golfing, and camping.

Fly fishing is permitted on a two-mile section of Codorus Creek along Porters Road, below the Glatfelter Dam. It is designated as Trophy Trout Water by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and has a naturally reproducing population of brown trout.
