Point State Park is located in downtown Pittsburgh, at the confluence of three rivers. Pittsburgh is the second largest city in the state, offering many historical, cultural, recreational, and culinary experiences. Point State Park is close to three state parks, where visitors can enjoy recreation, education, and other activities.

Allegheny Islands State Park

Accessible only by boat, the 50-acre Allegheny Islands State Park consists of two alluvial islands and seven shoals in the Allegheny River. The park is heavily covered in vegetation and remains undeveloped. Some of the few islands left in a natural state, the islands are homes to many animals and plants and frequently flood.

There are no developed trails, however, several footpaths exist.

Hillman State Park

Hillman State Park is managed for hunting by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Hiking trails are open to the public. Additional recreational opportunities include mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, radio-flying, and wildlife watching.

Raccoon Creek State Park

The 7,572-acre Raccoon Creek State Park is one of Pennsylvania’s largest and most visited state parks. It began as a Recreational Demonstration Area operated by the National Park Service in the 1930s.

The park features the beautiful 100-acre Raccoon Lake. Popular recreational activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, and camping.
