Recycling programs are financed by a $2-per-ton recycling fee on all waste (except ash) disposed of in landfills or processed by resource recovery facilities in Pennsylvania. Besides grants for local recycling, planning, and environmental protection programs, funding subsidizes state programs for recycling market development, public education, technical assistance, and grants administration.

The Food Recovery Infrastructure Grant is a reimbursable grant for equipment to help registered nonprofit organizations operating in PA to reduce the amount of fresh and processed foodstuffs entering the waste stream. ​

  • Should your organization receive this grant, in order to continue processing this grant, you are required to have an SAP Vendor Number with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If you do not have an SAP Vendor Number, using Microsoft Edge or Chrome internet browser, open the Office of the Budget website at www.budget.pa.gov, click “for vendors", vendor registration, non-procurement and complete the sections of the Non-Procurement vendor registration process.

Act 190, Chapter 2, Household Hazardous Waste Collection Grant - Provides reimbursement to registered sponsors of collection programs for household hazardous waste, electronics, and tires (but not tire pile cleanups). Reimbursement available for up to 50 percent of eligible costs. Eligible costs typically include collection, transportation and management of the wastes plus education programs.
