The Conservation District Support Section manages $9.5+ million in annual funding for Pennsylvania’s County Conservation Districts. These funds are distributed through the State Conservation Commission’s (SCC) Conservation District Fund Allocation Program. These funds are used to support County Conservation District Managers, Erosion and Sediment Control Technicians, Administrative Staff and to implement agricultural best management practices.
In addition, the Section oversees regional DEP Conservation District Field Representatives in delivering administrative and technical assistance to County Conservation Districts.
The Section also assists the State Conservation Commission and its Executive Secretary and staff in the development and review of annual reports, conservation district policies, contracts, delegation agreements and MOUs with agencies.
The Section provides administrative and technical assistance to the Department and State Conservation Commission for program evaluation, contracting and implementation of statewide programs.
The Section supports to the State Conservation Commission’s Executive Secretary and staff with development of agendas and preparation for bi-monthly business meetings and conference calls.
The Section also assists with planning and conducting a multi-County Envirothon and the Pennsylvania State Envirothon and the State Conservation Commission’s Leadership Development Programs.
