Harrisburg, PA – The 59th All-American Dairy Show concluded Wednesday, September 20 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center with Ayrshire Margot Precious shown by Kurt Wolf of Guttenberg, Iowa, named Supreme Champion. Milking Shorthorn heifer Lands-Brook KNH Chili Pepper, shown by Peter Vail of Salem, New York, won Supreme Junior Grand Champion.
The Supreme Champion Bred and Owned award went to Alicia Solomon's Holstein, Oakfield Solomon Sunset-ET, from Oakfield, New York.
The annual show brought 1,600 cows and more than 700 competitors from 21 states to compete in four days of breed shows, industry networking, and youth development, skills contests featuring the best of the U.S. Dairy Industry.
Ohio and Pennsylvania Youth Competitors Win Jr. Supreme Champions
The 2023 Premier Junior National Supreme Champion Cow, selected Monday evening from among seven breed champions, was Big Guns Andreas Victory-ET, 1st 5-year-old, shown by Lillian Finke of London, Ohio. Jr. National Supreme Champion Heifer was a Jersey, Sheratons Andreas Shay-ET, 1st Spring Yearling, shown by Emory Bewley of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
New York, Pennsylvania, Youth Take Top Prizes in Youth Showmanship
The Youth Showmanship contest pitted more than 371 young people from 16 states against their peers across the country in a test of breed knowledge and livestock-handling skills. Elizabeth Schieferstine of Vernon, New York, took the Overall Showmanship and Fitting prize. Claire Lamb of Oakfield, New York took first place in the Junior Division, ages 8-11. In the Intermediate Division – ages 12-15 – Chloe Lamb of Oakfield, New York, placed first. In the Senior Division – ages 16-21 – Nicole Arrowsmith of Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania won first place. Kyle Welk of Quarryville, Pennsylvania, won Sr. Fitting.
Michigan 4H Team Wins Jr. Dairy Management Contest
In the Jr. Dairy Management Contest, pitting youth in their knowledge of cattle breeds, biosecurity practices, feed and nutrition, farm business management and other skills needed to run a successful dairy farm, Michigan's 4-H team took the top prize with team member Landon Thelen having the top individual score.
Cornell University, Kaskaskia College, Indiana Central Noble FFA, Michigan 4H, Take Home Wins in Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Competition
Cornell University won the collegiate division of the Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Competition, with Adam King as the top individual scorer. Kaskaskia College in Centralia Illinois. won the two-year college division. The top individual scorer in the 2-year college division was Whitney Yerina of State University of New York (SUNY)-Cobleskill. Michigan 4-H took the overall 4-H competition with Olivia Black as the top individual scorer. Indiana Central Noble won the FFA division, with Faith Lortie as the top individual scorer.
