Statewide Health Equity Action Team

Goal: Work with partners inside and outside the Department of Health to reduce health disparities in communities across Pennsylvania.

HEAT meetings allow for participants to learn about the work that different organizations are doing across Pennsylvania and build connections. Our diverse group includes researchers, health professionals, government departments, non-profit organizations, foundations, religious groups, and more!

HEAT meetings include:

  • Meeting virtually via Microsoft TEAMS every other Thursday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am
  • 2-3 speakers share their work on health topics. Each speaker talks for 10-15 minutes, and answers questions if time allows.
  • Over 500+ members across the state, with about 85-115 people joining each meeting.

Regional Health Equity Action Team

Pennsylvania has many different communities, including some that don’t often get healthcare and support. This includes people with health issues such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and asthma. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it became clearer that these communities struggled more than others and these challenges have continued.

The Regional Health Equity Action Team (RHEAT) works to reduce health disparities in Pennsylvania by focusing on different regions. RHEAT partners with many groups, including organizations, government agencies, and communities, to help all Pennsylvanians live healthy lives. RHEAT divides Pennsylvania into six areas based on the PA State Health Districts map, with each region having its own committee.

Northwest: Erie, Crawford, Mercer, Lawrence, Venango, Clarion, Forest, Warren, McKean, Elk, Cameron, Jefferson, Clearfield

Northcentral: Potter, Tioga, Bradford, Clinton, Lycoming, Sullivan, Centre, Union, Snyder, Montour, Columbia, Northumberland

Northeast: Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Pike, Monroe, Luzerne, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton

Southwest: Beaver, Butler, Armstrong, Indiana, Cambria, Washington, Greene, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Somerset, Fayette

Southcentral: Blair, Bedford, Fulton, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, York, Dauphin, Lebanon

Southeast: Schuylkill, Berks, Lancaster, Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery

Our local Outreach and Training Coordinators lead and connect the six RHEAT committees in their areas. If you have any questions or want to learn more about RHEAT, please contact your region’s Outreach & Training Coordinator:
