NazAarah Sabree began her career in community and economic development over twenty years ago. She is an effective and experienced executive with a history of advocating for small businesses in and around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She has provided business development training, technical assistance, as well as the tools necessary for businesses to achieve success spanning across four mayoral administrations.
As a passionate leader, she executed strategic plans by forging new partnerships, exceeding performance goals, and increasing collaboration efforts within organizations and communities. During her time with the Department of Commerce, she led the City’s top leadership and legislature on tours highlighting small businesses while discussing issues around gun violence. NazAarah has provided guidance on system improvements while analyzing key barriers to success including regulatory, operational, and financial obstacles.
Throughout her career in the non-profit and public sector, NazAarah has held many positions of leadership. Rising through the ranks from Administrative Assistant to the Small Business Advocate of the Commonwealth. She has been recognized by the Business Association of West Parkside for her civic and small business leadership, identified as a “Woman on the Move” and honored for her years of service and dedication by City Council of Philadelphia. NazAarah has also been described as the connector and advocate for small businesses.
NazAarah is currently the Small Business Advocate for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, nominated by Governor Tom Wolf and confirmed by the Senate in June 2022. As Small Business Advocate, she represents the interests of small business consumers with regulated utility matters before the Public Utility Commission, corresponding state and federal regulatory agencies, and in higher courts.
Prior to becoming Small Business Advocate, NazAarah served as Senior Director for the City of Philadelphia, Commerce Department’s-Office of Business Services.
