Criminal and Juvenile Justice Systems
Depending on the age of the offender and severity of the crime, the offender will get sentenced within the Juvenile or Criminal Justice System.
Adult System
A victim of crime may become involved in the criminal justice system, if the offender is 18 or older. The criminal justice system includes County Jails and State Prisons.

Office of Victim Advocate (OVA) Register with OVA Victims have the right to provide input into certain releases of an offender. To ensure you are receiving that right, you must register with OVA. By registering, you can provide input to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole about the ongoing impact of the crime when the offender is being reviewed for release or parole.
Juvenile System
If the offender is under 18, the victim will engage with the juvenile justice system. However, in certain cases, a minor may be tried as an adult in the criminal justice system, depending on the severity of the crime.
