Resource Open House – Thursday – Beaver County to Host Community Resource Open House with State, Federal Agencies, and Norfolk Southern

BEAVER COUNTY, PA – ​On Thursday, March 16, Beaver County – with support from the Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Health, and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) of the CDC, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Norfolk Southern, and State Representative Jim Marshall – will host a resource open house for residents in Pennsylvania affected by Norfolk Southern’s train derailment.

Agencies in attendance will offer one-on-one discussion to individuals who attend, as well as provide resources and information.

The Shapiro Administration has been offering services to Pennsylvania residents living near the train derailment at the Pennsylvania Health Resource Center in Darlington Township, Beaver County, through Thursday, March 16.

The Center has already provided help to more than 466 people, helping people sign up for independent soil and water quality testing through DEP, providing medical evaluations, emergency behavioral health evaluations, and general public health information, and having their questions answered about pet safety, farm animal safety, and best farm practices by experts from the Department of Agriculture.  

PEMA established an online dashboard where the public can find one-stop-shop information on air and water testing, health resources, cleaning services, how to get in touch with Norfolk Southern and much more.
