Paving Project to Start Soon on Route 18 in West Middlesex Borough and Shenango Township, Mercer County

A $1.8 million project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than 2 miles of Route 18 in Shenango Township and West Middlesex Borough, Mercer County is scheduled to start April 7, 2025.

The project will include paving of 2.5 miles of roadway from Roman Road near the Route 376 interchange to just north of the Interstate 80 overpass near Broadway Avenue. Work also includes milling, full depth reconstruction as needed, driveway adjustments, tree trimming and seeding, as well as updates to drainage, sidewalks, ADA ramps, guiderail, roadway markers, pavement markings, and signs.

Construction is expected to begin April 7, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by mid-July 2025.

No detours are expected in connection with the project. Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers and should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions. Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc. of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $1,849,213.06, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
