The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view the plans for a project to repair the bridge that carries Route 208 over Little Scrubgrass Creek in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.
The bridge is located on Route 208 (Emlenton Clintonville Road), approximately three-quarter mile east of the Rockdale (Route 3007) and half-mile west of the Stone Church Road (Route 3009).
Proposed repairs will take place on the lower portion of the bridge, including the construction of a liner system beneath the existing arch and filling the space between with reinforced concrete and grout.
Work is expected to occur during the 2026 construction season.
Right-of-way impacts and temporary construction easements will be needed to accommodate access and construction.
A detour is not needed to accommodate construction and the bridge will remain open to traffic for the entirety of the work.
The bridge was built in 1960. It is used by approximately 1,000 vehicles a day, on average. The bridge is rated in poor condition.
The information on the Route 208 Bridge Project, including a handout, digital plans, and an online comment form, is available online only. It can be accessed by visiting www.penndot.pa.gov/District1, clicking the Projects Near You, and choosing the District 1 link.

It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
