Project to Replace the Bridge on Scrubgrass Road in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County to Start Soon

A $1 million bridge project to replace the bridge that carries Scrubgrass Road over Wolf Creek in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County is scheduled to start in April.

The bridge is located on Scrubgrass Road (Route 2014) between the intersection with Creek Road and the intersection with Centertown Road.

Work will include demolition of the existing steel bridge and the construction of a new concrete bridge. The project will also include excavation, minimal asphalt paving, and guiderail updates.

Construction is expected to begin April 7, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by August 29, 2025.

The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Route 173, Millbrook Road (Route 2022), and Centertown Road (Route 2009). It is expected to be in place for five months.

The existing steel girder bridge was built in 1939. It is classified as poor condition. Approximately 500 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The contractor is Jet Excavating of New Middletown, Ohio. The contract cost is $993,879.50, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
