Sidewalk Project along Route 518 in Sharon, Mercer County to Start Next Week

A nearly $1 million project to update drainage and sidewalk along Route 518 (East State Street) in the City of Sharon, Mercer County is expected to start April 28, 2025.

This project includes the replacement of approximately 1,100 feet of stormwater pipes and inlets. Work will also include repairs or replacement of nearly a quarter mile of sidewalk and adjacent curbs and ADA-compliant curb ramps between Oakland Avenue and Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.

Construction is expected to begin April 28, 2025, weather permitting. It is expected to be completed by September 2025 with some landscaping work to be done in spring 2026.

Work will require pedestrian detours that will use the sidewalk on the opposite side of the roadway. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

The contractor is M&B Services of Clarion, PA. The contract cost is $993,842, which is to be paid with federal funds.
