Interstate 90 Westbound Reopen in Erie County

Speed Restrictions Remain on All Interstates in Northwest Region

The westbound lanes of Interstate 90 in Erie County have reopened to traffic following a multi-vehicle crash earlier today.

Due to the combination of high winds and low temperatures creating icy conditions, temporary speed limit restrictions to 45 mph remain in effect on the following highways:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 113 (Route 208/258, Grove City) to the end of I-79 in Erie County.
  • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton).
  • Interstate 86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line.
  • I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.
  • Interstate 376 from the I-80 interchange to Exit 2 (Route 18, West Middlesex).

Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.

Restrictions will be communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website at www.511PA.com and smartphone apps. Motorists can also sign up for alerts on the website.
