Continuing work along the Bayfront Parkway will require the closure of a portion of the waterfront side of State Street in the City of Erie.
Starting tomorrow, work will start on installing underground utility conduits under the Bayfront Parkway. For the safety of drivers and workers, State Street will be closed between the intersection with the Bayfront Parkway and the intersection with West Front Street Extension on the waterfront side. The closure is expected to go into place on January 7, 2025, weather permitting, and last approximately five weeks.
Drivers can continue to access all businesses on the waterfront side of State Street by using Sassafras Street Extension or Holland Street and West Front Street Extension.
The utility relocation is a necessary step prior to the reconstruction of State Street as a grade-separated intersection.
