Project to Replace Bridge on Forrester Road in Mercer County to Start Next Month

A $1.25 million project to replace the bridge that carries Forrester Road over Cool Spring Creek in Fairview Township, Mercer County is scheduled to start in April.

The bridge is located on Forrester Road (Route 2017) between the intersection with Coolspring Church Road and the intersection with North Mill Road near Lake Latonka.

Work will include demolition for the current steel bridge and construction of a new concrete bridge. The project also includes excavation, waterproofing material applied to the bridge, minimal asphalt paving, and guiderail updates.

Construction is expected to begin April 7, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by August 29, 2025.

The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Airport Road (Route 2015), Stoneboro Road (Route 1005), and Poole Road (Route 2019). It is expected to be in place for five months.

The existing steel girder bridge was built in 1952. It is classified as poor condition. Approximately 500 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The contractor is Thomas Construction of Grove City, PA. The contract cost is $1,254,633 which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
