Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing nightly lane closures on Route 4003 (McKnight Road) in the City of Pittsburgh, and Ross and McCandless townships, Allegheny County will begin Monday night, April 21 weather permitting.
Beginning Monday night, southbound McKnight Road will be reduced to a single-lane between Perrymont Road and the Babcock Boulevard interchange each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Monday, April 28. Crews will conduct milling and paving operations. Motorists will still have access to the businesses and side streets along the corridor.
Additionally, beginning at 8 p.m. Monday night, the ramp from Peebles Road to northbound McKnight Road will close to traffic to allow milling and paving work to occur. The closure is only anticipated to last two hours and will reopen to traffic once the work is completed. Traffic from Peebles Road will continue to the signalized intersection and turn right onto McKnight Road during this time.
All work listed above is weather pending, if inclement weather occurs Monday, all work will begin Tuesday.
Please use caution if traveling in the corridor. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.
This $26.99 million McKnight Road improvement project began in February 2024 between Venture Street and Perrymont Road in the City of Pittsburgh, and Ross and McCandless townships, including Babcock Boulevard/Evergreen Road. Work includes bridge and culvert preservation, milling and paving, base repairs, drainage upgrades, pipe cleaning, guide rail, signal, and ADA ramp upgrades, waterline replacement, concrete mountable curb replacement and new signage and pavement markings. Remaining work in the southbound direction includes drainage updates, milling and paving, and side road adjustments under a lane closure. Side road adjustments and ramp work will occur in the northbound direction. Work is expected to conclude in the summer of 2025. Lindy Paving, Inc. is the prime contractor.
