PennDOT Reduces Speed Limit on Interstate 376 in Lawrence, Mercer Counties

US 422 Bypass speed reduction implemented

Pittsburgh, PA – Due to the winter storm, PennDOT has temporarily reduced the speed limit on Interstate 376 in Lawrence and Mercer counties, and the US 422 Bypass in Lawrence County.

A 45-mph speed restriction is in place on I-376 between the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lawrence County and Interstate 80 in Mercer County. Additionally, a 45-mph speed restriction has been implemented on the US 422 Bypass between Interstate 376 and Business 422. Additional speed restrictions on interstates and expressways may be implemented as the storm progresses.

On roadways with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by restrictions on these or other roadways must move to the right lane.

Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
