Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT has lifted the temporary restrictions on certain vehicles from traveling on several roadways in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Due to the winter storm impacting the region, PennDOT temporarily restricted certain vehicles from using the interstates earlier today to help ensure that the interstates remained open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm.
The vehicle restrictions reflected Tier 2 of the commonwealth’s weather event vehicle restriction plan (PDF) have been removed from the following roadways:
· I-79
· I- 279 (Parkway North)
· I-376 (Parkways East and West)
· I-579
· I-76 (PA Turnpike from Monroeville to Cranberry)
PennDOT has also lifted speed and right-lane-only commercial vehicle restrictions on I-79 in the region.
