PennDOT Reminds Motorists of Bridge Height Regulations

Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) wants to remind motorists the maximum height of any vehicle without a permit in Pennsylvania is 13 feet, 6 inches.

Drivers of motor vehicles exceeding the maximum height limit should call the PennDOT District 12 Permit Office at 724-425-3017.

CDL operators driving dump trucks or garbage trucks with automated side loaders should always ensure equipment is completely down before driving on any highways. Operators hauling equipment such as an excavator on a flatbed or low boy trailer are encouraged to measure the height on both delivery and return as the configuration of the equipment may have changed.

Penalties for striking an overhead bridge due to an over height vehicle can include a citation, as well as restitution for any bridge damage.
