PennDOT, Safety Partners Announce State Farm’s Billboard Contest Winners

Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) partnered today with the Highway Safety Network, AAA East Central and State Farm to announce the winner of this year's "No Excuses" Distracted Driving Billboard Contest Yough High School in Westmoreland County.

The State Farm sponsored billboard contest "No Excuses" for distracted driving was open to all high school students in Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland Counties. Students from eight local schools submitted eleven designs for judging. The first-place winner is from Yough High School and will receive $1,000; Yough High School will also receive $1,000. The second-place winner is from Latrobe High School and will receive $500; Latrobe High School will also receive $500. The third-place winner is from West Greene High School and will receive $250 and West Greene High School will also receive $250. The second and third place winners will be presented their prize in April. The winning design will be viewed by motorists on a billboard near Yough High School.

PennDOT reminds motorists "Don't Drive Distracted." Drivers cannot react as quickly when eating, drinking, adjusting the radio, texting, interacting with other passengers, or any other distraction that takes their eyes off the road. Driving requires all your attention all of the time.
