Interstate 70 Arnold City Interchange Informational Open House Held

Rostraver Township, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 held an informational public open house last evening, Tuesday, April 22,  in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, to review the construction timeline and projected traffic impacts of its Interstate 70 at Arnold City Interchange project.

District 12 Executive Rachel Duda, Assistant District Executive for Design Jeremy Hughes, Assistant District Executive for Construction Bill Beaumariage, Project Manager Gary Ferrari, Assistant Construction Engineer Darin Glitz, and additional PennDOT, consultant, and contractor staff were available to answer questions.

The Arnold City interchange improvements project, located in Rostraver Township, connects Route 3011, Finley Road, Indian Hill Road, and Daugherty Lane to I-70. It is intended to enhance safety and traffic operations at the interchange and along I-70. The project area is approximately 1.75 miles long, extending from the I-70 bridge over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to 1.37 miles east of the Arnold City Interchange.

The project will include widening the median from 4 feet to 10 feet and widening the outside shoulders from 10 feet to 12 feet. The reconstructed interchange will utilize a diamond configuration with a five-leg roundabout connecting the eastbound ramps with Indian Hill Road and Finley Road. The westbound ramps will be reconstructed as standard diamond ramps with a non-signalized intersection. The roadway will be shifted approximately 4 feet to the north to accommodate the widening.

Displays from this and District 12’s additional I-70 projects can be viewed on the I-70 Projects webpage.

The project documents will be available in alternative languages or formats if requested. If you need translation/interpretation services or have special needs or concerns that require individual attention, please contact Assistant Construction Engineer Darian Glitz at 724-439-7282 or dglitz@pa.gov.
