    PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 28. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Bridge cleaning:

    • Route 21 (McClellandtown Road) in German Township
    • Route 51 (Pittsburgh Road) in Menallen Township
    • Route 119 (George C Marshall Parkway) in South Union Township

    Bridge replacement:

    • Route 1002 (Banning Road) over a branch of Laurel Run in Lower Tyrone Township
      • Road closed between Keffer Road and Route 1041 (Chaintown Road/School Road)
        • Detour:
          • Route 1002 (Banning Road)
          • Route 1004 (Cottom Road)
          • Route 1041 (Chaintown Road)

    Drainage work:

    • Route 982 (Pleasant Valley Road) in Bullskin Township
    • Route 1009 (Popular Run Road) in Springfield Township
    • Route 1011 (Grandview Road) in Bullskin Township
    • Route 1031 (Broadford Road) in Upper Tyrone Township

    Shoulder repair:

    • Route 40 (National Pike) in Henry Clay Township
    • Route 166 (Edenborn Road) in German Township
    • Route 3006 (New Geneva Road) in Nicholson Township

    Sign upgrading:

    • Various routes countywide

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
