Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing scheduled daily short-term single-lane restrictions with flagging, width restrictions, and lane shifts on Route 88 (Eighty-Eight Road) between Sigsbee Road and Fifth Street in Monongahela Township, Greene County, beginning Monday, March 31.
Anticipated through November, crews from The Beaver Excavating Company, Inc. will conduct the first phase of replacing the bridge that carries Route 88 over Whitely Creek – an infrastructure investment of $5.5 million.
Half of the existing bridge demolition and new bridge construction will take place in 2025, with the second half planned for 2026. The new structure will be off alignment—approximately 18 feet north of its existing location.
A waterline relocation is scheduled for this April, and no closures apply to this project. All work depends on weather and operations.
With flagging operations in effect, motorists should plan for extra travel time and drive cautiously through the work zone. Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
