Interstate 70 Rolling Stoppages between Arnold City and Smithton Scheduled this Week in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA – PennDOT District 12 would like to inform motorists of rolling stoppages in both directions on Interstate 70 in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, between Exit 44 (Arnold City) and Exit 49 (Smithton). The rolling stoppages will occur on Thursday, May 4 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, weather and operational dependent.

The rolling stoppages are necessary to allow utility crews to perform emergency repairs to replace a pole and transfer existing power lines. West Penn Power will be performing the repairs.

This work is part of a $120.6 million project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the project includes one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51. The project involves several intersecting roadways including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. The project is anticipated to be completed in October 2027. Crews from Golden Triangle Construction Company are performing the work.
