Interstate 70 to Route 201 Off-Ramp Widening Begins This Week in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing daytime lane widening operations are scheduled to begin Thursday, August 31 at the westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Route 201 off-ramp (Exit 43A) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction Co., Inc. will be performing work to widen the ramp including excavation, asphalt paving, installation of a concrete island and guiderail, and pavement markings.

Flaggers will be guiding traffic in both directions from the westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Route 201 off-ramp to the intersection of Route 201 and Pricedale Road. Additionally, a width restriction of eight-and-a half feet (8.5') and a length restriction of 40 feet (40') will be in effect around the clock – daytime and nighttime – for the entire duration.

Traffic restrictions are anticipated from Thursday, August 31 through mid-September depending on weather and operations.

This $7.2 million project involved the replacement of the existing structure carrying Route 3007 (Fayette Street) over Interstate 70, including approach roadway along Route 3007, upgrades to the drainage, guiderail, signage, and pavement marking.

The existing structure carrying Route 201 (Rostraver Road) over Interstate 70 was raised approximately eight inches to provide adequate vertical clearance over Interstate 70, which included replacement of the bridge approach slabs and the concrete curb, reconstruction of the roadway and updating the pavement marking. The overall project in anticipated to be complete in mid-September 2023.
