Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that continuing safety improvement work on Interstates 70 and 79 in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties is scheduled through late spring 2025.
Daylight (7:00 AM-6:00 PM), rolling, single-lane restrictions and shoulder closures are, or will be, at the following locations:
- I-70 eastbound and westbound
- From the West Virginia state line to Exit 18 (I-79 North Junction)
- From Exit 21 (I-79 South Junction) to Exit 32B (Route 917, Bentleyville)
- From Exit 49 (Smithton) to Exit 57 (New Stanton/Hunker)
- I-79 northbound and southbound
- From Exit 14 (Route 21, Masontown/Waynesburg) to Exit 34 (I-70 South Junction, New Stanton)
- From Exit 38 (I-70 North Junction, Wheeling, WV) to Exit 48 (Southpointe/Hendersonville)
Greene Acres Contracting is completing the work as part of a Low-Cost Safety Improvement Project (LCSIP) to enhance safety on state roads in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. The project includes installing safety features such as delineators on concrete median barriers, guide rails, mountable curbs, and delineation posts. It is a $612,000 transportation infrastructure investment.
Work is weather-dependent and subject to operational changes.
Exercise caution while approaching the work zone. Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
