New Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad Bridge Construction Continues in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions currently on southbound Route 51 between Finley Road and Ridge Road in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, will remain in place, as needed, through March.

Occasional northbound restrictions will occur in the same location, and all lanes will be open through the weekends.

Construction work is done depending on weather and operations, and restrictions will be removed for inclement weather.

Crews from Golden Triangle and subcontractors will be performing work for the new Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad Bridge, along with the overpass carrying Route 51 over Interstate 70, as part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 at Route 51 Improvement Project, which is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
