    PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 21. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Bridge cleaning:

    • Route 40 (National Pike/Yough Lake) in Henry Clay Township
    • Route 40 (National Pike/Hopwood ramps) in Henry Clay Township
    • Route 119 (George C. Marshall Parkway) in South Union Township
    • Route 281 (Mae West Road) in Henry Clay Township
    • Route 381 (Farmington Ohiopyle Road) in Wharton Township
    • Various routes in the Connellsville area

    Bridge replacement:

    • Route 1002 (Banning Road) over a branch of Laurel Run
      • Between Keffer Road and Route 1041 (Chaintown Road/School Road)
        • Road closed. Posted detour:
          • Route 1002 (Banning Road)
          • Route 1004 (Cottom Road)
          • Route 1041 (Chaintown Road)

    Bridge sweeping:

    • Route 40 (National Pike) in Menallen Township
    • Route 40 (George C. Marshall Parkway) in South Union Township
    • Various routes in the Connellsville area

    Brush cutting:

    • Various routes in Ohiopyle and the White areas in Stewart Township
    • Various routes in the Woodside area in Springhill Township

    Paving:

    • Route 1031 (Owensdale Road) in Upper Tyrone Township
    • Route 1058 (County Line Road) in Saltlick Township

    Pipe flushing:

    • Route 166 (New Geneva/Masontown/Woodside Road) in Nicholson Township

    Sign upgrading:

    • Various routes countywide

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
