PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

Uniontown, PA – Fayette County Maintenance Manager, Jason L. Spangler, announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 12, 2023. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting and operational basis.

During county maintenance work activities motorists should expect to encounter flaggers, single-lane restrictions, moving operations, and detours. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

Bridge replacement is scheduled for:

  • Route 1051 (Breakneck Road) in Bullskin Township

 Shoulder repair is scheduled for:

  • Route 40 (National Pike) in South Union Township
  • Route 119 (Morrell Avenue) in Dunbar Township

Shoulder cutting is scheduled for:

  • Route 2001 (Skyline Drive) in Wharton Township
  • Route 2002 (Kirby Road) in Wharton Township
  • Route 2003 (Wharton Furnace Road) in Wharton Township
  • Route 2004 (Quebec Road) in Wharton Township

Shoulder stabilization is scheduled for:

  • Route 1051 (Breakneck Road) in Connellsville Township
  • Route 2017 (Maple Summit Road) in Stewart Township
  • Route 4009 (Pleasant View Smock Road) in Menallen Township
  • Route 4014 (Pleasant View Smock Road) in Menallen Township
  • Route 4016 (Smock Road) in Menallen Township

Brushing is scheduled for:

  • Route 3010 (Smithfield Masontown Road) in Georges Township
  • Route 3011 (Fairview Hill Road) in Nicholson Township
  • Route 3012 (York Run Road) in Georges Township

Sign upgrade is scheduled for:

  • Various Routes in North Union and Franklin Townships

Sign clearing is scheduled for:

  • Various Routes in North Union and Franklin Townships

 Litter cleanup is scheduled for:

  • Various Routes in North Union Township

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
