PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Uniontown, PA – Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager, David M. Forkey, announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 12, 2023. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting and operational basis.

During county maintenance work activities motorists should expect to encounter flaggers, single-lane restrictions, moving operations, and detours. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

Patching, sweeping and bridge cleaning is scheduled for:

  • Route 31 (Ruffsdale/Mt. Pleasant Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 981 (Morewood Street) in East Huntingdon Towship
  • Interstate 70 from Monesson to New Stanton in Belle Vernon

 Pipe installation, repair, and drainage improvements are scheduled for:

  • Route 1009 (Owl Hollow Road) in Ligonier Township
  • Route 2029 (Helen School Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 2016 (Youngstown Ridge Avenue) in Unity Township
  • Route 3011 (Indian Hill Road) in Rostraver Township
  • Route 19 (Latrobe Crabtree Road) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 1071 Ligonier Township

 Crack and joint sealing is scheduled for:

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Ligonier Township

 Shoulder cutting is scheduled for:

  • Route 711 from Ligonier Township to Fairfield Township
  • Route 2025 (Ankney Hill/Blacksmith Road) in Mt. Pleasant Township
  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Ligonier Township
  • Route 1067 (Paintertown Road) in Penn Township

 Ditching is scheduled for:

  • Route 2027 (Charles Houck Road) in Unity Township
  • Route 30 west from Derry Township to Ligonier Township

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County.
 PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
