Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin Monday, March 31, to replace a bridge on Route 255 spanning Muddy Run and situated at the intersection of Hungry Hollow Road in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. This will improve the overall condition rating of the bridge from poor to good.
Starting Monday, work will begin to prepare for the bridge replacement using temporary lane closures, with flaggers providing traffic control as necessary. Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and be alert for workers in the roadway and changing traffic patterns.
Beginning in May, use of a single-lane temporary roadway with traffic signals will be implemented to allow replacement of the existing structure. A detour providing access to Hungry Hollow Road will also be put into place at that time, utilizing Kilmer Road and Salada Road. PennDOT will announce more details as work advances toward these stages of the project.
Overall work on this project includes the replacement of the existing bridge with a new concrete box culvert structure, reconstruction of the approaching roadway, guiderail installation, drainage improvements, application of pavement markings, and related construction. Kukurin Contracting of Export, PA, is the contractor on this $1.5 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in October.
