Route 220 Resurfacing and Embankment Stabilization Project Continues in Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a roadway resurfacing and embankment stabilization project continues on Route 220 in Picture Rocks Borough and Shrewsberry Township, Lycoming County.

The week of Monday, April 21, 2025, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., will continue road work during daylight hours. Work includes base repairs, placement of barrier, and preparation for the embankment stabilization just north of Picture Rocks Borough. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed.

Traffic Impacts

  • Temporary traffic signals have been placed on Route 220 between Roaring Run Road and Big Run Road.
  • (NEW) On Tuesday, April 21, 2025, the temporary traffic signals will be placed in full operation mode.
  • (NEW) On Tuesday April 21, 2025, a temporary barrier will be placed in the on Route 220, just north of Picture Rocks Borough.
  • Motorists can expect long-term single lane conditions through the fall 2025.
  • A 10-foot width restriction is currently in place.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays, watch for changing traffic patterns, and drive with caution in the area. Motorists should approach crossovers with caution in the work zone.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., is the prime contractor on this $4.7 million, resurfacing and embankment stabilization project. Work on this project includes the mill and resurface of 5.6 miles of Route 220 between Picture Rocks Borough and Glen Mawr in Shrewsbury and Penn townships, line painting, guide rail upgrades, embankment stabilization using benched excavation and rock placement, and superelevation improvements by modifying the cross slope. Additional work includes shoulder reconstruction, ADA curb ramps and curbing in Picture Rocks Borough, and bridge deck resurfacing. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in the fall 2025, weather permitting.
