King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge beam installation will occur on Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) under a $36 million project to replace the two bridges that carry the highway over Darby Creek in Prospect Park Borough and Tinicum Township, Delaware County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Wednesday, February 19, through Friday, February 21, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a series of five, 15-minute traffic stoppages will occur each night on southbound Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) between 4th Avenue and Interstate 95, to allow crews to install 15 bridge beams on the new southbound Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) structure over Darby Creek.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers are reminded that access is prohibited from Lazaretto Road to southbound Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue), and from Lafayette Avenue at 2nd Avenue to northbound and southbound Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue). Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes.
PennDOT’s contractor is expected to finish construction on the new southbound bridge in late summer before construction begins on the new northbound structure.
