PennDOT Completes Bethel Road Roundabout Project in Upper Chichester Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today opened the newly built roundabout at the Bethel Road and Mill Road intersection in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County.

Work on this project began in December 2022 to construct a single-lane roundabout to enhance traffic flow through the Bethel Road and Mill Road intersection. The project included relocating utilities; new drainage facilities, ADA-compliant sidewalks, crosswalks, and bicycle ramps; and a full-depth reconstruction of the existing intersection. Additional work will continue this fall to install permanent lighting.

The purpose of the project was to reduce overall crashes at the intersection; reduce vehicle speeds; and improve bicycle and pedestrian mobility and safety near the intersection.

Richard E. Pierson Company, Inc. of Pilesgrove, NJ, was the general contractor on the $2.6 million project, which was financed with 100% federal funds.
