Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) Bridge in Union and Swatara Townships, Lebanon County, to Open to Traffic This Thursday

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) bridge spanning Swatara Creek between Jonestown Road in Union Township and New Bunker Hill Road in Swatara Township, Lebanon County, is expected to open to traffic on Thursday, December 12.

The bridge was closed in April for replacement. The detour currently in place will be lifted.

Temporary traffic control measures implemented at two locations during the closure will return to pre-project conditions. A four-way stop condition at the intersection of Route 72 and Thompson Avenue will return to a two-way stop condition with stop signs situated at both approaches on Thompson Avenue, and no stop signs at the Route 72 approaches.

A temporary traffic signal placed at the intersection of Market Street and Lancaster Street in Jonestown Borough to assist with traffic flow through the intersection will be removed and the intersection will return to a two-way stop condition with stop signs situated at both Lancaster Street approaches, and no stop signs at the Market Street approaches.

A press release will be issued when the bridge opens.
