Work Begins March 31

Delays Expected on Route 22 and a Detour for Traffic Using Route 2019 (Level Road) in Cresson Township, Cambria County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists to expect minor delays beginning Monday, March 31, 2025, on Route 22 and a detour for traffic on Route 2019 (Level Road) in Cresson Township, Cambria County, as construction starts on the Route 2019 Level Road Bridge Project.

A 14-foot lane restriction will be in place on Route 22, and an approximately 3-mile detour of Route 2019 (Level Road) will use U.S. 22, the Route 8012 Summit Interchange, Route 8010, the Route 53 Interchange, and Route 2014 (Admiral Peary Highway).

Charles J. Merlo, Inc., Mineral Point, Pa., is the contractor for the $3,994,000.00 project, which calls for the bridge and approach roadways to be raised to increase the under-clearance of the bridge-structure over Route 22. Additional improvements, including guide rail and drainage upgrades, will also be performed. The project has an anticipated completion date of August 2025.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
