Detour of East 25th Avenue in Wehnwood Section of Altoona, Blair County, for Bridge Repairs Begins Friday, April 25

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists of the closure and detour of East 25th Avenue in the Wehnwood Section of Altoona, Blair County, beginning Friday, April 25, 2025.

East 25th Avenue will be closed between Juniata Gap Road and Broadway Avenue for a bridge rehabilitation project until May 30, 2025. A detour will use Juniata Gap Road to East Wopsononock Avenue to Broadway Avenue back to East 25th Avenue.

When needed, contractors will conduct work under daylight flagging, with the potential for traffic delays not to exceed 15 minutes.

Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., Everett, Pa., is the contractor for the $524,135.35 bridge project, slated for completion in the 2025 construction season.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
