The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists to expect delays beginning Monday, April 7, 2025, on Interstate 99 (I-99) between the Plank Road and Frankstown Road exits in Blair County.
The contractor will be implementing long-term passing lane closures using channelizers and barriers on I-99 from the Plank Road exit (Exit 31) to the Frankstown Road exit (Exit 32) in both the northbound and southbound lanes.
As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.
To ease congestion, motorists are encouraged to use the zipper merge technique, using both lanes up to the construction zone merger point rather than joining the open lane immediately.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Inc., New Enterprise, Pa., is the contractor for the 10.1-mile, $23,500,000 project on I-99 from the median cross-over near Newry to 17th Street exit in Blair County. The project includes an asphalt overlay of the road and a latex overlay on the bridge decks, as well as guide rail updates, new signage, and pavement markings. The work is scheduled to be completed in September of 2025.
