Farm Bill

The Farm Bill is the federal governments agricultural and food policy tool that is generally renewed on a 5-year basis.  The Conservation Title of the Farm Bill deals with programs that help producers implement natural resource efforts on working lands through programs dealing with forestlands, pasture and croplands, land retirement programs, and easement programs.  These Farm Bill programs provide participating landowners with financial assistance in the form of cost shares, rental payments, and/or easement payments for participating.

Overview

Farm Bill programs can be confusing with all the different program acronyms, different program requirements, and different goals of the programs. The PGC partners with Pheasants Forever, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, American Bird Conservancy, and others to assist the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) with implementing various Farm Bill programs. These partnerships fund biologists and foresters who work in local NRCS offices and provide technical assistance to private landowners to improve soil health, improve water quality, improve forest health, and improve wildlife habitat while sustaining production.
