Overview
The chronic wasting disease (CWD) Cooperator Program allows qualified processors and taxidermists to accept high-risk parts from cervids harvested within disease management areas (DMAs) and those harvested outside Pennsylvania. Businesses that participate in the cooperator program may be displayed on the PA Game Commission’s CWD Interactive Map, although it is not required.
Those interested in participating must apply and meet the following requirements:
- Complete and submit an application as required by the Commission. Applications must be renewed annually.
- Dispose of high-risk cervid parts* through commercial refuse pickup service or other means as approved by the Commission and provide documentation of proof of approved disposal method upon request of Commission.
- Provide access to Commission staff to collect biological data from harvested deer and elk.
The application period for the CWD Cooperator Program runs from August 1st to December 31st.
First time applicants should select the “Submit New Application” option in the CWD Cooperator online application system or submit a paper application.
Returning applicants should select the “Renew Application” option in the CWD Cooperator online application system or submit a paper application. Online renewal applications require an individual access key that was sent to the e-mail address on file. A renewal reminder email including a copy of this access key will be sent before the application period opens for the season.
Links for both the online application system and paper application can be found below.
If you need a copy of your renewal access key, would like a paper copy of the application mailed to you, or have any additional questions, please contact the CWD hotline via phone at 1-833-INFOCWD (1-833-463-6293) or email at infocwd@pa.gov.
