Marker Maintenance Schedule

As property of the Commonwealth, PHMC manages the maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of damaged or missing markers. This includes cyclical maintenance by county, emergency repairs when a marker is reported damaged, and ordering replacements for missing or badly damaged markers.

PHMC maintains historical markers on a rotating schedule, usually covering about 5 counties each year. With nearly 2,600 markers spread across 67 counties, it typically takes about 10 years to return to each county. Below is an estimated schedule for this cyclical maintenance.
