    PHMC Chair Nancy Moses, Discusses Her Book Stolen, Smuggled, Sold: On the Hunt for Cultural Treasures at The State Museum, May 17

    ​Harrisburg, PA - Nancy Moses, author and Chair of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) will discuss her new book, Stolen, Smuggled, Sold: On the Hunt for Cultural Treasures on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at The State Museum of Pennsylvania. Moses will share her fascinating work exploring iconic cultural treasures that were stolen, smuggled, or sold, and eventually returned to their original owners. The event opens with a reception at 5:00 PM with the program following at 5:30 PM.

    The State Museum of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation will co-present the event.  The Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation is the nonprofit partner of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the state’s official history agency.

    Moses is the author of the award-winning book Lost in the Museum: Hidden Treasures and the Stories They Tell.

    Nancy Moses’ books and articles explore the stories behind iconic cultural treasures and the provocative issues they raise. The former director of the Atwater Kent, Philadelphia History Museum, Moses has held senior positions in government, academia, and public broadcasting. Moses has produced theatre, civic celebrations, television, and radio shows, and consulted for a diverse portfolio of leading nonprofits. In addition to serving as Chair of the PHMC, Moses writes a column for Philadelphia Business Journal about influential women. A native of Pittsburgh, Moses lives in Philadelphia where she is active in many civic initiatives.

    The State Museum of Pennsylvania, adjacent to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, is one of 24 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of the Pennsylvania Trails of History. The State Museum offers expansive collections interpreting Pennsylvania’s fascinating heritage.
