Reminder: Spanish Resources Available for Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program

Thanks to Governor Shapiro, the expanded PTRR program delivered more than 522,000 rebates totaling $319 million to Pennsylvanians who applied last year for a rebate

Harrisburg, PA The Department of Revenue is reminding Spanish-speaking Pennsylvanians that there are Spanish resources available that can help eligible applicants apply for a rebate through the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program. These include an option to apply online for a rebate in Spanish using myPATH, the department’s free online filing system.

Offering these resources is part of the Department of Revenue’s efforts to ensure that as many eligible Pennsylvanians as possible take advantage of the expanded PTRR program. Thanks to Governor Josh Shapiro, the program’s income limits have again increased this year and the maximum standard rebate available is $1,000.

“Working alongside Governor Shapiro, we are committed to making the Property Tax/Rent Rebate application process as accessible as possible for all Pennsylvanians,” said Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne. “All of our employees at the Department of Revenue take great pride in the fact that the expanded PTRR program has reached so many deserving residents. As we build on the program’s legacy, we are working hard to enhance our resources for the Spanish-speaking older adults and people with disabilities who can benefit from a rebate.”

Spanish Resources

Spanish-speaking applicants applying online using myPATH will be guided through the application process with eligibility requirements and filing instructions in Spanish. Applicants do not need to create a username or password to use myPATH to file a PTRR application.

Applicants can also find the translated Property Tax/Rent Rebate program instruction book (PA-1000) as well as the REV411 instructional video – Como Llenar la Solicitud PA-1000, which provides Spanish-speaking customers with a tutorial on how to apply for a rebate online using myPATH.

PTRR Expansion

Governor Josh Shapiro successfully worked to expand the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program during his first year as Governor. That work paid off in a big way, as the Department of Revenue processed more than 522,000 rebates totaling roughly $319 million for Pennsylvanians who applied for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2023. This included roughly 100,000 first-time filers who received a rebate for the very first time.

The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The table below shows how much homeowners and renters who fit this criteria are eligible for, depending on their income:

Submitting your application online through myPATH — in English or Spanish — is easy and does not require you to sign up for an account. Filing online gives you instant confirmation that your claim has been successfully filed. Applicants also will have access to automatic calculators and other helpful features that are not available through the paper application.

It's free to apply for a rebate and assistance is available at hundreds of locations across the state: Department of Revenue district offices, local Area Agencies on Aging, senior centers, and state legislators' offices.

Rebates must be applied for every year as they are based on annual income and property taxes or rent paid during the prior year. The deadline to apply for a rebate is June 30, 2025. Rebates will be distributed beginning July 1, 2025, as required by law.

Since its inception in 1971, the PTRR program has delivered more than $8.6 billion in property tax and rent relief to some of Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents. The PTRR program is supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery and receives funding from gaming.
