TThis is a four-year bridge rehabilitation project of the bridge carrying Route 4001 (Little Pine Creek Road) over Little Pine Creek in Pine Township.
Work began on the project in the fall of 2023 with minor preparation work. In the spring of 2024, the contractor started pile installation for the temporary bridge foundations. The temporary bridge will carry traffic during the rehabilitation of the suspension bridge.
The bridge, which is listed on the National Historic Landmarks and National Register of Historic places in Pennsylvania, was built in 1891. It will be disassembled, and parts and pieces will be sent away to the fabricator for cleaning and upgrades. The bridge will then be reassembled, and the temporary roadway will be removed. Once completed, the structure’s weight restriction will increase from 3 to 10 tons.
Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2026.

More About the State Route 199-010 ProjectThese are the first two of three primary contracts for the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) Project’s Southern Section. These $221.5 million contracts include 4.5 million cubic yards of earthwork and new bridges for the new section of Route 15 between Selinsgrove and Winfield. The Southern Section will tie into the recently opened Northern Section of CSVT which connects Route 15 near Winfield, Union County to Route 147 near Montandon, Northumberland County.
The first contract includes installing drainage throughout the project, constructing erosion and sediment pollution control structures, constructing one new bridge over CSVT, constructing three box culverts, and realigning a few local roads.
The first contract is currently 75% complete with earthwork and drainage south of Mill Road finished. In late 2023 a new bridge was constructed that carries Sunbury Road over the future CSVT, realignment of Park Road, and the two roundabouts on Mill and App Roads. The roadway connecting the roundabouts is anticipated to be opened in the spring of 2024.
Work began in Summer 2022 and is anticipated to be completed in 2025.
