Domiciliary Care for Service Providers

The Domiciliary Care (Dom Care) program, provides a homelike living arrangement within their community. Dom Care providers open their homes to individuals, ages 18 and older, who need supervision, support, and encouragement and are unable to live on their own.

What to Expect When Becoming a Dom Care Provider

People are matched to Dom Care homes that fit their needs and preferences. Unlike larger care homes, a Dom Care home is the private home of the person providing care. These homes are checked every year to make sure they meet health and safety rules.

In a Dom Care home, residents get supervision, a bedroom with basic furniture, three healthy meals a day, personal care per their care plan, laundry service, rides to non-emergency medical appointments, and help with taking medications that are to be self-administered.

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging sets a standard payment rate for all Dom Care residents. This payment usually comes from the resident's monthly SSI and State Supplement budget and goes directly to the care provider. The resident keeps the rest of their money for personal needs. There is a written agreement between the provider and the resident, like a tenant/landlord contract, that outlines these details.
