If you are concerned a loved one in a Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) prison may be considering suicide, please contact the appropriate prison immediately.

Whether you are trying to contact a DOC staff member or an inmate housed in one of the state correctional institutions (SCI), there are several methods available to use. If you have an urgent matter, call the appropriate prison directly. For general inmate-related issues, send emails to: ra-contactdoc@pa.gov

If you have a question or concern about an inmate in a county prison, please contact the county prison.

Whenever contacting the DOC about an inmate-related matter, please include the inmate’s name, inmate's number and current facility. This will ensure we forward your email quickly to the appropriate individual for a response.

SCI Chaplains

Contact the Chaplain’s Office at the respective correctional facility if you:

  • Are a community clergy who wishes to visit someone incarcerated as their Religious Advisor (The Department must be able to verify religious credentials);
  • Wish to notify someone who is incarcerated that a family member has died or has experienced a serious illness/accident (The Department must be able to verify the death/illness through a third party, e.g. hospital, funeral home, etc.);
  • Are interested in volunteering through Chaplaincy Offices to provide religious service to those incarcerated (The Department reserves the right to be selective on the volunteers who serve based on inmate needs and an equitable schedule of opportunities for inmates of all faiths);
  • Wish to donate religious texts or other helpful religious reading material in new or excellent condition to an institution (The Department deserves the right to be selective on the kinds of printed material it welcomes in our facilities based on institutional needs)​
