After PennDOT Receives a Report
A report triggers an evaluation process conducted by PennDOT. PennDOT will review the information it has received and compare it to the medical standards outlined in PA Code Title 67, Chapter 83. PennDOT will send a letter to inform the driver that a report has been received. The letter may advise the driver that their driving privilege is being recalled or ask the driver to submit additional medical information relating to their medical condition. Depending on the supplemental information received, PennDOT may do any of the following:
- Place a restriction on the driver's license (such as daylight driving only).
- Recall the driving privilege until medical competency has been demonstrated.
- Require the driver to take a driver's examination, which includes a vision screening, a knowledge test and/or a skills test.
- No action taken on the driver's privilege.
