Licensure By Reciprocity, Licensure By Waiver & Licensure By Act 41:
To apply by reciprocity, an applicant must present proof of a currently valid license to practice speech-language pathology or audiology in a state which has standards determined by the board to be at least equal to those for licensure in this Commonwealth.
To apply by waiver, an applicant must hold current ASHA (American Speech Language Hearing Association) certification.
Act 41 allows for portability of out-of-state professional licensees coming to work in Pennsylvania. Act 41 does this by granting all boards and commissions within the Commonwealth the authority to endorse licensees from other states, territories or jurisdictions (with substantially equivalent licensing requirements) who are active, in good standing and without discipline against their license or criminal conviction.
